Arguing Against Kierkegaard's Proof of God's Existence
A 3 page analysis of Kierkegaard's philosophy that we reason from existence and not towards existence and therefore God must exist. The writer is extremely critical of Kierkegaard's argument and makes a number of strong points to counter the philosopher's reasoning. No Bibliography.[Send Me This Paper]
Invalidating the 'First Cause' Argument for God's Existence
9 pages analytically assessing the concept of 'First Cause.' Citing the work and theories of such historical thinkers as Sartre, Hume, and Kant-- the writer presents both sides of the argument and concludes the analysis by determining that the First Cause argument falls short of proving God's existence (note : writer does not attempt to disprove God's existence- only to invalidate the First Cause argument). Bibliography lists 4 sources.[Send Me This Paper]
Three Arguments Regarding the Existence of God
This 9 page report discusses three specific arguments for the existence of God -- cosmological, ontological, and argument from design. It is more than fair to suggest that since the beginning of time, humanity has argued that God does or does not exist. Having established that God exists, the argument then evolves into how God exists and in what frame of reference and how those varying forms of referencing impact modern thinking and religion. Bibliography lists 7 sources.[Send Me This Paper]
The Existence Of Evil Disproves An Omnipotent God
A 6 page paper. One of the dilemmas that has historically faced Christianity is the existence of evil. How can evil be explained within the concepts of the Christian God? If God is omnipotent and morally perfect, how can He allow evil to exist? This is the argument that is put forth in this paper. The very fact that evil does exist disproves the concept of an omnipotent morally perfect God. Bibliography lists 8 sources.[Send Me This Paper]
Descartes's Proof of God's Existence
This 6 page paper focuses on Descartes's proof, but addresses other related issues. Possible motives for Descartes's desire to prove that God exists are a part of the discussion. Bibliography lists 2 sources.[Send Me This Paper]

His systematic doubt along with the presupposition of a powerful, evil, and most importantly, deceiving spirit, are revealed by Descartes in his "First Meditation." St. Anselm Argues the Existence of God
(5 pp.) Anslem (1033 - 1109) was considered the most enlightened theologian in the eleventh century. He chose to be member of the religious community at the age of 26, and though he never doubted the existence of God, he determined that he wanted to think through, through rational proof, what he believed in his heart. His first book, Monologium, contained his rewording of all the logical arguments that he had found from earlier writings. This work had at least 65 chapters, but then he wondered, could he compose a single proof, which would say succinctly what others had said before. This is his book Prosologium; which is the text that will provide the base for this discussion. Bibliography lists 1 source.[Send Me This Paper]

Arguments Relating to the Existence of God
This is a 6 page paper discussing the arguments used for the existence of God. The existence of God has long been a topic of philosophy, religion and science and continues to fascinate. Traditional arguments over the existence of God were based on design, ontological, cosmological (first cause), moral, reason or rational issues. Recently, the cosmological issues which relate to science and the big bang theory can lend themselves to arguments for the existence of God within the scientific paradigm which not only includes cause but also relative universe and time factors. Descartes' Deductive Reasoning, Definitions and Principles Used to Argue the Existence of God
This is a 5 page paper discussing Descartes' deductive reasoning, definitions and principles used in proving the existence of God. In Rene Descartes' Meditation III, he proposes a logical argument to prove the existence of God. To do this, he presents an internally consistent argument through deductive reasoning and in addition provides further clarification for the reader in terms of definitions of formal and objective reality and principles for reality which help clarify his argument. Even without the further definitions and explanations of the principles however, upon accepting the initial premises that "nothing comes from nothing", "the cause of the effect must have as much reality as its effect", and "the cause of the idea must have as much reality as the idea itself", then the introduction of the idea of God, and the cause of this idea is logical in its conclusion that since only God has infinite reality then only God is the cause of the idea of God (also infinite reality) and therefore God exists. Bibliography lists 5 sources.[Send Me This Paper]
Arguments on the Existence of God
A 6 page research paper that examines the position of eighteenth century philosopher David Hume concerning the existence of God in his Dialogues Concerning Natural Religion. The writer outlines the parameters of a cosmological argument for the existence of God and then summarizes the discussion in Hume's text, arguing that, while Hume shows that such an argument does not necessarily prove that God exists, it does not disprove it either. The writer then reconciles scientific theory with belief in God as a creator. Bibliography lists 5 sources.[Send Me This Paper]
Cosmological Argument/Existence of God
A 10 page research paper on the cosmological arguments for the existence of God as formulated by Thomas Aquinas. Bibliography lists 1 source.[Send Me This Paper]
The Existence of God: Presentation of an Atheist and Theist Argument
This is a 10 page paper presenting an argument about the existence of God from an atheist and theist standpoint ending in favor of the theist. Generally the arguments for the existence of God center on five different approaches: the argument of contingency, the argument from design, the ontological argument, the argument as a presupposition of values and morals, and the argument for proof by religious experience. The argument of design of the universe, or teleological arguments based on science are those most often proposed by atheists (A) although theists (T) do have comparable arguments as rebuttal and the arguments of morals and values provide the most sound base. Bibliography lists 7 sources.[Send Me This Paper]
A Dialogue on the Belief in the Existence of God
This is a 7 page paper presenting a possible dialogue regarding arguments about the belief in the existence of God. A theoretical dialogue between a theist (T) and an atheist (A) includes various arguments in regards to the belief in the existence of God including reference to works by C.S. Lewis, Richard Taylor, Anselm, W.T. Stace and Alan Watts among others. While several of the fundamental arguments are denied by the atheist, overall a denial of belief of the existence of God cannot be maintained based on most of the theist's arguments relating to the fact that through reason, intuition and moral actions, people have come to believe in something which exists outside of the natural world yet remains influential within it; a belief in the existence of God which cannot be denied. Discussions of the Cosmological, Ontological and Teleological Arguments and Criticisms on the Existence of God by Descartes, Kant and Hume
This is a 9 page paper discussing the cosmological, ontological and teleological arguments and criticisms in regards to the existence of God by Descartes, Kant and Hume. Rene Descartes, Immanuel Kant and David Hume among many others have arguments in regards to the existence of God. Descartes offered cosmological and ontological arguments for the existence of God. Descartes' cosmological argument is causal in its format as it is based on the premise that the idea of infinite perfection could only originate from the real existence of an infinite being. From an ontological perspective, Descartes offers a more simple presupposition in that whatever he clearly can perceive is true and if he can perceive the idea of God, then God exists. Kant argues primarily against the use of presuppositions in Descartes arguments as he notes that "existence is not a property or predicate" but merely a "positing of a thing". Hume, on the other hand criticizes the arguments on the basis that "matter of fact" can only be based on experience. In addition, "whatever we conceive as existent, we can also conceive as non-existent". Hume also argues against the analogies used in the teleological arguments for the existence of God because they too can never settle a factual question and to assume that one can know a cause of an action without experiencing it is a faulty and misleading assumption as events or actions can be caused by multiple purposes and no one cause can be assumed.
